As with other airlines worldwide, EL AL is facing difficult market conditions, in particular the rise in the cost of jet fuel. To contend with this situation, the airline has taken efficiency measures including the removal from service of less cost-efficient veteran aircraft, the cancelation or reduction of frequencies on unprofitable routes, company-wide vacations and many other actions that are at present in various stages of planning and implementation – all of this, with the aim of returning the airline to profitability.
With the conclusion of the high season (summer and holidays), it has been decided to end the employment of some 200 temporary personnel by the end of the year.
In today’s economic state, all airlines, including EL AL, must be as cost efficient as possible. The future of the airline and customer service are our guiding principles.
