Children flying EL AL on their own are in caring hands from beginning to end.

Child Care service for unaccompanied minors provides parents sending their children on an EL AL flight with a feeling of security and certainty that the child is in good hands, under supervision, before, during and after the flight.

EL AL offers Child Care service to children aged 5 to 15, flying without an adult escort. Upon request, the service is also extended to children up to age 18.
The service includes escorting and assisting the child from the moment the child arrives at the check-in counter and continues until he/she is met by relatives at the destination. The service can be ordered through a travel agent or directly at one of EL AL's offices as well as through EL AL's telephone reservations centers.

Children aged 5 and less than 15 on the date the journey begins can fly EL AL without a parent or other escort if they meet all requirements.

The cost of the service is $100 per EL AL flight segment. The $100 payment covers one or more children from the same family flying on the same flight to the same destination.

Passengers to Eilat: An unaccompanied minor is defined as a child aged 5 – 12.
Cost of service is $15 per flight segment.

Terms of Service:


  • Children under age 5 must be accompanied by an escort – either a parent or other authorized person (age 16 and over).
  • A child, aged 5-15, must be accompanied to the airport of departure by a parent or escort authorized by his/her parents, who must remain with the child until the flight departs.
  • The escort should have complete details including the full name, address and telephone number of the person who will meet the child at the end destination. The person meeting the child at the end destination must produce documentation identifying him or her as the person whose details were submitted at the departure point.
    Before your arrival at the airport, it is advisable to complete the form (in English) printed out in four copies, including details of the flight and of the person meeting your child at the destination. Filling out the form in advance will save you precious waiting time at the check-in counter and will avoid unnecessary delays at peak hours, leaving you more time to spend with your child before he/she boards the flight.



  • If a child under 15 years of age is accompanied by an adult who is not his or her parent (different family names) the adult must sign a Temporary Guardian form at all check-in counters.
  • Notarized Approval – In certain cases, the police require notarized approval, such as when the minor is not a relative (or for any other reason). This person must bring the notarized approval to Border Control and must also sign a Temporary Guardian form. This should be done all check-in counters.
  • The service is available only on EL AL flights.
  • The service does not include transfers between airports or between two terminals at the same airport.
  • No refund will be given in the event the customer cancels the service request.
  • GOVT. Service TAX of 4.944% will apply on transactions for services on BOM-TLV paid for in India


Passengers Under Age 18:

  • Children flying EL AL aged 15 - 18 traveling on their own will be required to show sufficient proof that their parents allowed them to fly on their own and that they will be under the supervision of a responsible adult at the destination country.
  • Unaccompanied minors over age 15 are entitled to special care only if specifically requested by a parent or guardian.



Inflight Service:

  • The flight purser designates a crew member to be responsible for the child's care during the flight and notifies the other crew members of the child's arrival and seat number.
  • The designated crew member greets the child by name and introduces himself / herself, helps to seat the child and to store his or her baggage. The crew member also provides information about the plane and the proper use of the seat systems.
  • The designated crew member pays maximal attention to the child during the course of the flight and is attentive to all of the child's needs (food, drink, lavatory, etc.)
  • During a night flight, the designated crew member makes sure the child is covered with a blanket and checks every so often to ensure that all is well.
  • The designated crew member helps the child fill out any documents required for the destination country.
  • Before landing, the child is told to wait for the designated crew member to escort him or her to the front of the plane


Service at the destination airport:

  • Upon landing at the destination airport, the purser hands over the child to the ground attendant, who signs a special form indicating that he/she has received charge of the child.
  • The Ground Service attendant escorts the child to the passenger reception area, including Passport Control, waiting in the baggage retrieval area and collecting the luggage.
  • The attendant escorts the child through Customs and hands him or her over to the person who is listed on the form that was filled out by the escort at the departure station (documented identification required).
  • The person accompanying the minor must submit the following details at the point of departure: name and personal details of the child and the parent meeting the child; (full name, I.D. number, passport number, contact telephone number).The overseas station will wire these details to the Israel station. The escort will be allowed entry by a telegram sent from the departure station, noting the name of the child and the escort.
  • Upon arrival at Ben-Gurion Airport, the parent should call the lost luggage department at the telephone number that appears on the window adjacent to the Personnel Passage (next to the Steimatzky store on G Level opposite Gate 1). At this point a lost luggage representative will meet the parent and approve his/her entry to the Arrivals Hall. The parent will be required to present an I.D
