Motion sickness is caused by a conflict between our sight sense and our sense of equilibrium which is located in the inner ear. Turbulence increases motion sickness because it increases movement of the fluid in the inner ear. Focusing your eyes on a fixed object or place without moving them helps to reduce dizziness and nausea.
