DENIED BOARDING BY OVERBOOKING: In those countries where Denied Boarding Compensation regulations are in force, airlines operate compensation plans for passengers with confirmed reservations who are denied boarding because of non-availability of seats caused by overbooking. Details of these plans are available at the airline's transporting offices. In order to minimise the effect of "no shows" and to permit seats to be used by passengers who otherwise would not be able to travel on the chosen flight, airlines may overbook flights. Airlines make every effort to provide seats for which confirmed reservations exist, but seat availability is not absolutely guaranteed.
NOTICE OF GOVERNMENT IMPOSED TAXES/FEES/CHARGES AND OTHER CHARGES: The price of the electronic ticket may include taxes, fees and charges which are imposed on air transportation by government authorities. These taxes, fees and charges, which may represent a significant portion of the cost of air travel, are either included in the fare, or shown separately in the "TAX/FEE/CHARGE" box(es)/section of this passenger e-ticket itinerary/receipt. You may also be required to pay taxes, fees and charges not already collected or imposed after you had already paid for this passenger-e-ticket itinerary/receipt. The "TAX/FEE/CHARGE" box(es)/section may also show other charges separate from the fare which are not government imposed taxes, but are levied by third parties or the airline (such as Passenger Service Charge to be paid by the airline to airport authorities in respect of your use of airport facilities or fuel/insurance/security surcharge required by airline).
IMPORT OF PLANTS AND PLANT PRODUCTS: Governmental authorities worldwide supervise the import and export of plants and plant products, including non-commercial imports in passenger baggage. The aim of this supervision is to prevent the entry of pests and plant diseases that might cause serious damage to local free-growing flora and agriculture. The import of plants and plant products at your destination without prior authorization is forbidden by law!

NOTICE TO PASSENGERS OF LIABILITY LIMITATIONS: The Montreal Convention or the Warsaw Convention system may be applicable to your journey and these Conventions govern and may limit the liability of air carriers for death or bodily injury, for loss of or damage to baggage, and for delay. The Montreal Convention will apply where the points of origin and destination of such carriage (as stated in the passenger's contract of carriage) are both within one or more Montreal Convention States. Many States are party to the Montreal Convention including the United States, Canada, EU States and South Africa. The limits in the Conventions are expressed in Special Drawing Rights and the limits specified below in Euro and US Dollars are provided as guidance only, are approximate and are subject to fluctuations in the rate of exchange.
Where the Montreal Convention applies, the limits of liability are as follows:
- Death or bodily injury - no financial limits;
- Destruction, loss of, or damage or delay to baggage - 1,131 Special Drawing Rights (approximately EUR 1,336; US$ 1,710) per passenger in most cases.
- Damage occasioned by delay to your journey - 4,694 Special Drawing Rights (approximately EUR 5,545; US$ 7,097) per passenger in most cases.
Where the Warsaw Convention system applies, the following limits of liability may apply:
- 16,600 Special Drawing Rights (approximately EUR 20,000; US$ 20,000) in respect of death or bodily injury if the Hague Protocol to the Convention applies, or 8,300 Special Drawing Rights (approximately EUR 10,000; US$ 10,000) if only the Warsaw Convention applies. Many carriers have voluntarily waived these limits in their entirety, and US regulation require that, for journeys to, from or with an agreed stopping place in the US, the limit may not be less than US$ 75,000.
- 19 Special Drawing Rights (approximately EUR 22; US$ 29) per kg for loss of or damage or delay to checked baggage, and 332 Special Drawing Rights (approximately EUR 400; US$ 400) for unchecked baggage.
- The carrier may also be liable for damage occasioned by delay.
EC Regulations require European Community carriers to apply the provisions of the Montreal Convention limits to all carriage by them of passengers and their baggage by air.
Many non-European Community carriers have elected to apply limits of liability in respect of the carriage of passengers and their baggage in excess of the limits specified in the Convention applicable to such passengers.
Further information may be obtained from the carrier as to the limits applicable to your journey. If your journey involves carriage by different carriers, you should contact each carrier for information on the applicable limits of liability.
In the case of carriage by EL AL, there are no financial limits on the amount of the airline's liability for proven damages for death or personal injury.
Regardless of which Convention applies to your journey, you may benefit from a higher limit of liability for loss of, damage or delay to baggage by making at check-in a special declaration of the value of your baggage and paying any supplementary fee that may apply. Alternatively, if the value of your baggage exceeds the applicable limit of liability, you should fully insure it before you travel.
Time limit for action: Any action in court to claim damages must be brought within two years from the date of arrival of the aircraft, or from the date on which the aircraft ought to have arrived. Baggage claims: written notice to the carrier must be made within 7 days of the receipt of checked baggage in the case of damage, and, in the case of delay, within 21 days from the date on which it was placed at the disposal of the passenger.
