- HOW LONG ARE POINTS GOOD FOR?
Points are accumulated within a 3-year period for a bonus ticket or upgrade & need to be claimed within this 3-year period. Points expire after 3 years. Once the points are redeemed with a bonus voucher, the voucher is good for an additional year to use toward the purchase of a bonus ticket or upgrade (see number 7).

WHAT CAN I DO IF I DON’T HAVE ALL THE POINTS NEEDED TO GET A BONUS TICKET OR UPGRADE?
You can buy the additional points missing on any bonus voucher for $1.00 a point.

DO I HAVE TO PAY TAX AND FUEL CHARGES WHEN TRAVELING ON A BONUS TICKET?
Yes, $156.30 for a one way ticket originating from the USA, $192.70 for a one way ticket from Israel to the USA and $349.00 for a round trip ticket originating from the USA. There is an additional $5.00 service fee if you make your reservation through the call center.

- HOW DO I RECEIVE A BONUS TICKET OR UPGRADE?
After making your reservation you will need to have a bonus voucher issued from your account, this can be done by logging into E-clubs on the EL AL website. Once you are in your account click on issue voucher. If the voucher is for an upgrade you will need to contact your travel agent or the Matmid Clubs at: 888 –FLY-ELAL to advise you voucher number after you have it issued. This will enable EL AL to use the voucher to upgrade the ticket you have already purchased.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A VOUCHER?
INSTANTANEOUSLY, however, bonus tickets vouchers require an advance ticketing of 4 business days. Therefore, any bonus ticket voucher requiring ticketing 3 business days – 6 hours before departure will incur a $50 ticketing rush fee. No bonus voucher (upgrade or bonus ticket) will be ticketed within 6 hours of your flight’s departure.

CAN I GIVE A BONUS VOUCHER TO WHOMEVER I WANT?
YES, just notate their name when you fill out your voucher request form. There is a $50 fee to change a name on a voucher once it has been issued.

CAN I COMBINE MY POINTS WITH ANOTHER MEMBER’S ACCOUNT TO OBTAIN A FREE TICKET OR UPGRADE?
NO.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT MY ACCOUNT BALANCE?
Go to the EL AL website and log into your account by entering your 7-digit Matmid Number information in the box on the left side of your screen. You must have your seven-digit Matmid number and pin code to access your account.

IF I FLY EL AL MORE THAN THE AVERAGE MEMBER WILL I RECEIVE EXTRA PRIVILEGES?
YES. EL AL has 5 tiers within the Matmid Club, Matmid (TL), Matmid Silver (SL), Matmid Gold (GL) Matmid Platinum (PL), and Top Platinum (TP). Silver, Gold, Platinum and TOP PL members receive extra privileges such as:
- Additional point accrual.
- Priority on wait lists for EL AL flights.
- Premium Seating.
- Guaranteed seating in Y Economy Class fares 72 hours before your flight.
- 24/7 customer service support for GL, PL & TOP PL members.
- I AM A SILVER/GOLD/PLATINUM CLUB MEMBER, WHAT FARES MUST I PURCHASE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A “LAST MINUTE” UPGRADE?
For a “Last Minute” upgrade to Platinum Class you must buy an M or Y Class fare & for First Class you must buy an I or C Class fare.
Please note: Children (no matter what level of membership) are NOT eligible for a “Last Minute” upgrade.
