1.Question:Do EL AL Matmid Frequent Flyer Club members earn points on all EL AL flights?
   Answer:Club members earn points on all EL AL flights (flights with the LY code), including flights with the
   EL AL subsidiary, Sun D'Or.The number of points earned depends on the destination and the Class
   booked on the flight. Please be sure to have your membership number entered on every reservation
   (booked by you or your travel agent) so that points can be transferred automatically. 
   The following table details the number of points earned on all EL AL and Sun D'Or flights.


2.Question:Can I accumulate points on past flights that were not entered in my account?
   Answer:If you are a new member, you can update points on past flights up to two months retroactive
   to the date you joined the Club. If you are a member of longer standing, you can update flights up to a year
   retroactively if you were a member at the time of these flights.
   You can update points retroactively through the e-club on the EL AL website.


3.Question:Where can I find up-to-date information regarding my Club account?
   Answer:Up-to-date information about your Club account is available on the e-club page on the EL AL
   website, using your membership number and internet password.

 

4.Question:How long do the points remain valid?
   Answer:Points accumulated in your account from EL AL flights remain valid for 3 years from the flight date.
   The same is true for Extra Points awarded for your tier status or as a flight incentive.
   Points earned from Matmid partner companies have unlimited validity. They do not expire.


5.Question:Who are Matmid Club partners and how can I earn points through them?
   Answer:The Matmid Club has over 40 partner companies through which you can earn more points towards
   a bonus ticket or an upgrade. Partner companies include all credit card companies in Israel and other credit cards
   from other countries. 
   All you have to do is inform the partner company that you are a member of the EL AL Matmid Frequent Flyer Club
   and submit your  membership number.
   The following list of participating companies also provides conversion rates for points.



6.Question:What is the King David Club and how can I become a member?
   Answer:The King David Club offers diverse services and benefits including entrance to EL AL lounges in Israel and
   around the world.

7.Question:What benefits are given to premium tier Platinum, Gold and Silver Matmid members?
   Answer:Premium Matmid members enjoy many valuable benefits including extra points above and beyond the regular
   accrual, reduced price last minute upgrades, guaranteed flight seats, etc.

8.Question:How long can I retain my premium status in the Club?
   Answer:Premium status in the Club is awarded for one year from the day the required number of points for the tier is accumulated.
   One year after the upgrade your entitlement for renewal of the status will be re-assessed, and if you have accumulated the required
   number of points for its renewal, your premium status will be renewed for an additional year.
   You can maintain the status as long as you accumulate sufficient points for the tier.


9.Question:Who is entitled to enter the King David Lounge at Ben-Gurion Airport?
   Answer:Entrance to the King David Lounge is available to Gold and Platinum members as well as to King David Club members
   and Business/First Class passengers. 


10.Question:What is the Matmid Kids Club?
     Answer:Because of the importance EL AL ascribes to children, we offer additional activities for children as part of Matmid Club
     benefits – the Matmid Kids Club for children aged 2-12. As part of their membership in the Club, the children enjoy benefits
     above and beyond the usual point accumulation: a specially designed Club membership card, a booklet for each child who joins
     describing  a variety of  discounts, entertainment suggestions, fun days, outdoor activities, etc. available to the children.


11.Question:Are there special deals that offer more points for EL AL flights?
     Answer:There are deals in which EL AL grants points above and beyond the usual number awarded for specific destinations
     on specific  days.Club member deals are constantly updated on the EL AL site under News and Deals for Club members and are
     also included in the  monthly newsletter sent to Club members.


12.Question:How can I order a flight seat and a bonus flight voucher for points in my account?
     Answer:You can order bonus flights at any time, from the time you reserve a flight until the voucher is ticketed, 
     through the EL AL internet site.


13.Question:Is it possible to issue a one-way bonus flight voucher or does the bonus voucher have to be for a return ticket?
     Answer:You can also issue a one-way bonus ticket.

14.Question:How long is a bonus voucher valid?
     Answer:A bonus voucher is valid for one year from its day of issue.
    The voucher is the document you need for issuing a bonus ticket, which is then valid for an additional year.


15.Question:In which classes should I reserve bonus flights?
     Answer:Bonus tickets are ticketed in special classes on all EL AL flights: J – in Economy Class; 
     X – in Business Class; P – in First Class. At the time of reservation you should state that you would like to make
     a reservation for a bonus ticket.

16.Question:Do bonus ticket prices include taxes and surcharges?
     Answer:Bonus ticket prices do not include port taxes and surcharges.
     The table of port taxes and surcharges appears on the EL AL site. Remember that these levies may change at any time,
     at the discretion of the relevant authorities.

17.Question:Is it possible to supplement missing points for a bonus/upgrade voucher?
     Answer:You can supplement each missing point for a bonus/upgrade voucher at the cost of $1 per point.


18.Question:What is a last-minute reduced-price upgrade and who is eligible for it?
     Answer:This upgrade is offered by telephone by the Reservations Department up to 48 hours before flight time (in Israel and abroad)
     to Silver, Gold and Platinum tier members, and at the airport to Platinum and Gold tier members for a reduced number of points. 
     The following link lists the criteria for this upgrade and the cost of reduced-price upgrades.


19.Question:From which credit cards is it possible to convert points to Matmid Club points?
     Answer:You can convert points to Matmid Club points from all the credit card companies in Israel and from several companies abroad,
     bringing you closer to a bonus flight or upgrade. 
     The exchange rates from the various companies appear in the following table.


20.Question:How are credit card points converted for Club points in my account?
     Answer:To convert points you have accumulated through your credit card to Matmid Club points, call your credit card company,
     submit your Matmid account number and request that your credit card points be converted to Matmid points.
     In the Leumi Card and Diners companies you can choose an automatic conversion plan which means that your points
     are converted and added to your Club account each month.


21.Question:What is a Gift Points Card and how can I purchase it?
     Answer:The Gift Points Card allows you to purchase Club points and present them to whomever you wish for any
     occasion (birthday / anniversary / special event, etc.).
     The passenger receiving the Gift Points can use them for purchasing a bonus ticket or upgrade voucher.
     Gift Points are valid for three years.
     You can send the Gift Points through an electronic gift voucher (which will be delivered by email) or through a magnetic
     card in an elegant kit (which will be sent by postal mail and will arrive at its destination within a week of the order).
     You can choose from several designs for the kit or email you send (the designs appear on the internet site),
     and you can add a personal text message to the recipient.
     Club points can be purchased for $1 per point.
     All you have to do is enter e-club on the EL AL site, punch in your membership number and password and choose the
     Coupons page from the menu.


22.Question:How can I receive information about special deals for Matmid Club members?
    Answer:To receive information about exclusive deals for Matmid Club members, all you have to do is make sure that your
    email and cell phone numbers are updated in your Club account.
    You can update these details on the Passenger Profile form on the e-club page of the EL AL site.


23.Question:Which services can be transacted through the EL AL internet site without having to wait for a service center
     representative?
     Answer:The extensive investment EL AL has made in computerization and technology allows you to carry out transactions in
     your Matmid Club account at the time and place most convenient for you, and to save you waiting time.
     The following transactions can be performed:

  • Receiving a membership status report by fax / postal mail / email (including the number of points in your account,
    a breakdown of points according to derivation – from flights and from partner companies, a list of all the vouchers that
    have been issued from your account)
  • Updating missing flights in your account
  • Reserving a bonus flight, from ordering a voucher to actually receiving the flight ticket
  • Issuing bonus tickets and upgrade vouchers, including voucher changes and cancellations
  • Registering for the King David Club
  • Receiving general information about the Matmid Club
  • Changing/ordering a PIN code
  • Clarifying point status for retaining/upgrading Club tier status
