6. Accumulating Points
6.1 Accrual of points to Club members' accounts will be made only according to the rules set down in these Regulations. In all cases, the decision on crediting points remains with EL AL exclusively.
6.2 Following are the types of points that can be accrued as part of Club membership:
6.2.1 "Basic Points" – The number of points accumulated in a member's account for every EL AL flight will be determined periodically by EL AL, at the airline's discretion exclusively. Only these points, accumulated over a period of 12 continuous months from EL AL flights only, will be utilized to determine the status of a member in one of the prestigious Clubs and to determine the position of the member in the priority lists for reduced-price last minute upgrades, if the member is entitled to it because of his or her status.
6.2.2 "Extra Points" – The number of points (in addition to the basic points) accumulated in a member's account as incentives, and from special deals etc. The number of points to be given will be determined periodically by EL AL at the airline's discretion exclusively. These points will not be considered for determining the status of a member in one of the prestigious Clubs and/or for determining the member’s position the priority lists for reduced-price last minute upgrades.
6.2.3 "Partner Points" – The accumulated points in a member's account from the purchase of a product or service from one of the partner companies, in accordance with agreements signed by the Loyalty club with various partners. These points will not be considered for determining the status of a member in one of the prestigious Clubs and/or for determining the member’s position in the priority lists for reduced-price last minute upgrades as noted above, subject to Section 7 below, "Accumulating Partner Points."
6.3 A Club member will be entitled to accumulate points on Code Share flights but will be credited with points only if the reservation was made on an EL AL flight with the LY code, on an EL AL flight ticket with an HK authorization. In any case, members will be credited only if they actually used the flight.
6.4 A flight that has been canceled by EL AL is not credited with points.
6.5 In the event that a member is transferred by EL AL to another airline for whatever reason (for example, due to overbooking, flight cancellation, and the like), the member's account will be credited as though for the original EL AL flight. Members must submit the appropriate authorizations to the Club so that their EL AL Club account will be credited. Flights on other carriers, not at EL AL's initiative as in the aforesaid, will not be credited with points.
Flights with EL AL initiated by another carrier (for example, due to overbooking, flight cancellation, and the like) are not credited with points.
6.6 Notwithstanding the above, bonus ticket flights, free flights, special deal flights, charter flights on foreign airlines and reduced price flights, including free or reduced price tickets for employees or retirees of EL AL and its subsidiaries and their family members who are entitled to these benefits, will not be credited with points unless otherwise stated in the airline's advertisements in specific cases.
6.7 In the event of advance upgrade for points or points and money, last-minute reduced price upgrade or free upgrade given to a Club member at the airport for whatever reason, the number of points to be accrued will be determined by the original seating Class purchased and not by the number of points that would be awarded for seating in the Class in which the member actually flew. In the event of downgrading for whatever reason, the point credits will be figured according to the seating Class in which the member actually flew and not according to what is written on the ticket.
6.8 Points can be accumulated on the basis of only one seat per flight even if the member purchased more than one seat on the aircraft.
6.9 Points for a given flight will be credited to one account only for one member only according to the flight that was taken and the Class for which the ticket was purchased.
6.10 Points may not be transferred from one member to another, unless EL AL, at its exclusive discretion, authorized the transfer of points, due to special circumstances.
6.11 To accrue points, it is the members' responsibility to submit their name and membership number with every EL AL reservation and when ordering from partner companies. Non-submission of membership number in reserving EL AL flights, or when purchasing services or products from partner companies (including flight tickets), will make it impossible to accumulate points. Notwithstanding the above:
• It is possible to update a missing EL AL flight to the account up to one year from the date of actual flight, on condition that the passenger was a Club member at the time he took the flight. A prerequisite for updating the points in the account is the member’s submission of a copy of the flight ticket and the boarding pass to Loyalty club offices. Updating takes about one month from receipt of the request in the offices of the Club management.
• It is possible to update EL AL flight points up to two months retroactive to authorization of the member's acceptance to the Club. The prerequisite for updating these points in the account is the member’s submission of a copy of the flight ticket and of the boarding pass to the offices of the Loyalty club. This update will take about one month from the day the request is received in the offices of the Club management.
• Updating details of purchase of products or services (including flights) from partner companies will be done according to the rules detailed in Section 7, below.
6.12 It is the members’ responsibility to check point status in their accounts periodically. Comments and appeals about the members’ statement sent to the members’ homes as part of the Club mailing will be accepted only up to 45 days from the day the mailing was posted or the mistake is discovered, whichever comes first.
7. Partners in the Club Program
7.1 The Loyalty club has the right to establish business partnerships with companies in Israel and abroad, including airlines (hereinafter: "the partners"), that enable all members who purchase a product and/or service from that company to accumulate partner points. These agreements do not constitute a contract for the benefit of a third party.
7.2 Partners points will be accumulated according to the conditions established in the special agreements between the partner and EL AL. EL AL has the right to contract with partners that bestow benefits on Club members residing abroad only or members residing in Israel only or members of a specific status.
7.3 EL AL has the right to terminate the alliance with each of the partners at any time or to alter the alliance conditions, and will inform all Loyalty club members of these changes.
7.4 Responsibility for providing partners’ services and/or products, and/or the quality of the services and/or products, as well as awarding points for the services and/or products acquired by the member, is borne by the partners themselves. EL AL will award members the number of points as submitted to it by the partners.
Members will have no grievance and/or demand and/or suit against EL AL pertaining to the subjects mentioned in this section.
7.5 Responsibility for examining entitlement to accumulate points at and/or from partners when ordering the service or product is borne by the Loyalty club member.
Similarly, members must submit their Club membership numbers at the time of purchase of the product or service so that their accounts may be credited with the partner points. For each purchase, as noted, it will be possible to submit only one membership number for each transaction.
7.6 In cases where the members’ accounts are not credited for the purchase of a partner’s product/service, or if members believe their account was not credited with all of the points, they must clarify the matter with the partner.
7.7 Retroactive crediting for partner points for the use of partner services/products will be allowed up to three months from receipt of the appropriate information from the partner company following the member's request to the partner.
7.8 Points accumulated from partners will be valid for utilization for bonus tickets and upgrades but will not be taken into account for determining members' eligibility for Silver, Gold or Platinum or Top Platinum membership, or for priority standing for last-minute reduced rate upgrades.
7.9 Club members who are also members of another airline club, who fly on a Code Share flight or with partners that are also airlines, can accumulate points for only one of the loyalty clubs, either EL AL's or that of the other airline.
Members should inform EL AL or the other airline which of their accounts they wish to credit with the points. Once they have informed the airline of their decision, they cannot transfer the points to their account in another airline or its partners.
To remove any doubt, if members decide to add their points to the other airline's club, they cannot transfer the points later to the EL AL Club, and vice versa.
