EL AL Israel Airlines is Expanding Again.

EL AL has signed a purchase agreement for four new Boeing 737-900ER passenger jets.
These aircraft are the very last word in narrow-body passenger aircraft. They will gradually phase out EL AL’s 757 fleet.
The new aircraft, to be introduced in 2013, will be used on short- and medium-haul routes.

The new 737-900ER aircraft will substantially increase Business and Tourist class capacity, and will be used on short- and medium-haul routes.

The 737-900ER is the most advanced aircraft in the Boeing 737 family. The innovative “Sky Interior” design is similar to that of the Boeing
787-Dreamliner.  EL AL will operate the new planes in a 160-seat configuration, with two service classes. The 737-900ER has many functional advantages, making it more efficient and economic to operate than its competitors.
The purchase is in response to the growing passenger demand for EL AL flights on various routes, and thus to offer passengers a wider and better choice of seats, while at the same time improving service and the overall flight experience for them.

EL AL’s present fleet already includes 14 Boeing 737s. The new purchase will increase this number to 18 aircraft.

The agreement is subject to approval by EL AL’s Board of Directors.
