New York, NY – Jan. 26, 2011 – Cardinal-Designate Timothy Dolan is in the Holy Land on a retreat with 50 brother priests of the Archdiocese of New York. Although Cardinal-Designate Dolan has previously made several trips to Israel, the purpose of this pilgrimage is for a time of prayer and a study retreat as he prepares to be named to the College of Cardinals next month, in February. The nine-day visit to the Holy Land, via EL AL Israel Airlines, was organized by the Archbishop’s office. The group will stay in the Galilee for three nights and in Jerusalem for four nights.
Archbishop Dolan has been leading the Archdiocese of New York for the past three years and will officially become a Cardinal on February 18th in Rome. He is also the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
