  Roots in the Sky – Flyover for Israel’s 63rd Independence Day



You are invited to view EL AL's third annual Yom Ha’atzmaut Flyover in the skies of Israel, in honor of the country’s 63rd Independence Day.

The theme of this year’s Flyover is “Then and Now,” expressing the State’s 63 years, including the role EL AL played in the annals of the State. The stories of the pilots participating in the flyover also reflect the deep ties linking EL AL and the State of Israel.

This year EL AL is dedicating the flyover to the Shalit family, the Arad family and the families that have suffered casualties as a result of Israel’s wars and of acts of terrorism, as well as to families of those missing in action and prisoners of war. The names of the planes taking part in the flyover have been changed for one week, and are dedicated to these families.

The four-plane flyover will begin at 12:45pm, over the Nahariya coast, and head southward along the coastline: Acre at 12:46; Haifa, Carmel highpoint at 12:48; Caesarea at 12:54; the Hadera smokestacks at 12:55; Netanya at 12:57; Tel Aviv, facing the Opera at 1pm; Palmachim at 1:02pm; Ashdod at 1:04pm; Tel Aviv facing the Opera at 1:15pm: Modiin at 1:19pm, Jerusalem at 1:22pm…

Likewise, EL AL, in cooperation with the Heseg foundation, is contributing $10 to Israel’s soldiers for each ticket booked during Yom Ha’atzmaut week for your flights in 2011.
  • Valid for reservations and ticketing May 8 – 14, 2011, for flights departing between May 8 and December 31, 2011.
  • Valid for EL AL direct flights operated by EL AL and not for codeshare flights.
  • Valid for all EL AL destinations in all classes, except: EL AL Spontany tickets, G class, bonus tickets for Matmid members.
  • Purchasing tickets and/or making changes in the reservation through the Telephone Service Center entail a payment of $5 for every phone call.
  • EL AL is entitled to change the contribution terms at any time with no prior notification.
