In 2012, Jacob Barak was appointed Director of Engineering, responsible for all aspects of engineering for the airline: Avionics, Structure & Interiors, Ground Equipment, Systems & Power Plant, Weight & Balance Performance, Technical Publications and Design/Drafting. The Engineering Division also develops designs and performs required in-house modifications such as configuration changes, avionic and other system revisions.
Jacob started his career in EL AL in 1970 and in 1979 was named Avionics Maintenance Supervisor. He was transferred to the Avionics Engineering Department in 1984.
In 1987 he studied Electrical Engineering at the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT), affiliated with Tel Aviv University; he also holds a diploma for Technical High School teaching. Jacob was appointed Avionics Engineering Manager in 1997.
In 2000, Jacob attended an Executive Business Administration program at the Recanati School of Business Administration at Tel Aviv University. He has represented EL AL at the Avionics Maintenance Conference (AMC) for the last 10 years and 5 years ago was elected to the AMC steering group.
