Buses depart from the Central Bus Station in the North of the city and from the southern Malha Railway Station. Buses function all day long from Sunday to Thursday and till 15:00 on Friday. Bus route number 99 runs between major tourist sites of Jerusalem. The season ticket for two days costs 130 NIS.
On Friday, after the end of working day, life in Jerusalem stops for 24 hours. Many shops open on Saturday night. All the other days shops are open until 20:00. Certain hangouts are open even after that time. Some bars and restaurants work at night of Friday to Saturday. Some museums are open on Saturday.
Jerusalem is the city of the three religions. It is very likely that during your stay at the city one of the religious communities will celebrate some holiday. Christian pilgrims, Jews, and Muslims gather in the city in large quantities. So you should be ready that any time a smother might start nearby.

Israeli residents pay the value added tax (VAT) at the rate of 17%. But the tourists, who paid over 100 USD for a purchase at shops belonging to the list approved by the Ministry of Tourism, may receive indemnity for the tax. In order to receive it, the purchase must be paid in a foreign currency.
