Tourist information center
In this center you can receive information on tours, maps, and booklets for free. It is located to on the left from the Jaffa Gate.
Tel. 02-6272612. Working hours: Sun. – Thu. 08:00 - 17:00, Fri. 09:00 - 13:00.

Christian information center
Here you can get tourist publications, maps, and information on tours.

Tour Phone
Dial from any phone the number *3888, and you will get information on tourist services. If it will be necessary you will get the help from police, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the airport, and so on. This hot line functions 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Public transport
Buses depart from the Central Bus Station in the North of the city and from the southern Malha Railway Station. Buses function all day long from Sunday to Thursday and till 15:00 on Friday. Bus route number 99 runs between major tourist sites of Jerusalem. The season ticket for two days costs 130 NIS.

Working hours
On Friday, after the end of working day, life in Jerusalem stops for 24 hours. Many shops open on Saturday night. All the other days shops are open until 20:00. Certain hangouts are open even after that time. Some bars and restaurants work at night of Friday to Saturday. Some museums are open on Saturday.

Jerusalem is the city of the three religions. It is very likely that during your stay at the city one of the religious communities will celebrate some holiday. Christian pilgrims, Jews, and Muslims gather in the city in large quantities. So you should be ready that any time a smother might start nearby.

Credit Cards
Shops and service centers accept all kinds of credits cards as Mastercard and Visa, but at booths and on markets it is easier to pay cash.

220V, as in Europe, three-phase socket. You can buy adapters at electronics stores or household shop or ask at your hotel. Guests from USA will need a transformer.

Israeli residents pay the value added tax (VAT) at the rate of 17%. But the tourists, who paid over 100 USD for a purchase at shops belonging to the list approved by the Ministry of Tourism, may receive indemnity for the tax. In order to receive it, the purchase must be paid in a foreign currency.
