Haifa music recommendations – going to a concert

Haifa Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1950 and recently became the center of musical life in Haifa and all the Northern Israel. This orchestra, the most important musical body in the Northern Israel, recently extended its “sphere of influence” to all the country. World-famous Maestro Noam Sheriff, one of the most universal Israeli musicians, is its musical director.

More than five thousand subscribers receive six different types of programs: The Classical Series, The Vocal Series, Haifa Proms, Friday Morning Classics, The Children's Series, and The Chamber Music Series. The orchestra also offers annual opera productions for the audience from the Northern Israel.

Community and Beyond

The Orchestra creates numerous programs for the audience, which include:

  • Chazanut Series (Jewish Cantor Music)
  • Popular concerts such as: “AbbeyRoad” with Jeremy Kaplan, “Sounds of America” with the Hebrew Soul Singers from Dimona, and the others.
  • Concerts at city festivals and public events: light music concerts in the park, concerts during Independence Day and Memorial Day

  • The orchestra takes part in the “Kidma” and “Israeli Notes” programs to allow the young people to become the future audience. This program gives and opportunity to meet informally and to play concerts at elementary schools and to perform with full orchestra at the Auditorium of Haifa.
  • The orchestra arranges master classes particularly designed for young creative musicians.


Promotion of Israeli Culture

The orchestra encourages and promotes original Israeli music and gives an opportunity for Israeli soloist and conductors to express themselves. Haifa Symphony Orchestra received the Prime Minister Award for the leading role in promoting original Israeli music.
