New operating times for Border Force VAT refund/Commercial export counters within the passenger terminals.
This notice confirms revised operating times for Border Force VAT refund/Commercial export counters within the passenger terminals.
Details of change
As of 1 July 2013 all Border Force VAT refund and Commercial Export counters at Heathrow will operate between 6:00am and 9:30pm.
Outside of these hours passengers may deposit their fully completed VAT refund claim forms, together with a stamped envelope for return to the retailer, in the box provided. These will be processed when the office re-opens.
For commercial exports and other Border Force enquiries passengers should pick up the Red phone to speak to an officer.
In the first instance passengers should always be advised to present their VAT refund claims and their goods to the landside facilities operated by Travelex prior to check-in.
In the majority of cases Travelex will be able to authorise the refund and offer an immediate payment. Passengers will only be referred to Border Force with claims that they are unable to process.
These changes are necessary to enable night staff resources to be redeployed to other priority work.
